PhD Opportunities in Intelligent Remote Sensing Applied in Mining
The Mine Modeling & Analytics (MM&A) Research Group at the University of Toronto is seeking two highly motivated PhD students to join our dynamic and interdisciplinary research team. Successful candidates will contribute to innovative research at the intersection of mining, geoscience, advanced remote sensing, and artificial intelligence.
Research Areas
Projects will involve applications of:
• Hyperspectral remote sensing
• LiDAR technologies
• Drone/UAV-based data acquisition and analysis
• Machine learning and deep learning methods
• Computer vision for geospatial and mining applications
• Geological and mining applications of geospatial data
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
• A strong academic background in Mining Engineering, Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Remote Sensing, or a related field
• Advanced knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, and deep learning
• Previous experience with hyperspectral imaging and/or LiDAR data analysis is considered a strong asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong motivation and ability to work collaboratively in a research environment
• Previous experience with drone/UAV applications is considered an asset.
